Founded in 1922, United Way of the Bay Area (UWBA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to community impact.  United Way is unique in its ability to bring together people active in their communities, business leaders, nonprofit organizations and government agencies to address major Bay Area problems.

Our Mission
To be the catalyst that enables people to strengthen their communities by investing in one another.

Counties We Serve
We serve: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Solano Counties.

United Way's Bay Area Community Fund
The Community Fund joins thousands of donations to form a single, powerful financial resource that enables United Way to guide and bring to scale many of our region’s best-performing nonprofit programs. Through the Bay Area Community Fund, United Way supports more than 250 local programs that fight poverty and create opportunities for children, youth, families and neighborhoods to thrive.

Children and Youth
Children are ready to learn and succeed and youth have safe, supportive learning environments.

Families
Low-wage families are able to meet basic needs and climb the economic ladder.

Neighborhoods and Community
Neighborhood organizations are working well together to serve local residents and effectively address community needs.

2-1-1
For every day needs and in times of disaster, 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember, toll-free phone number that connects Bay Area residents with community services, such as food, shelter, counseling, employment assistance, quality child care and more.  United Way’s introduction of 2-1-1 in San Francisco and Santa Clara Counties is part of a regional plan to establish integrated 2-1-1 service throughout the Bay Area.
