United Way's
Bay Area Community Fund
at Work

"I belong to the West Oakland community group, a part of The Family Independence Initiative, designed to encourage its members to become more financially stable and self-sufficient. That's where I found out about Individual Development Accounts."

Through the IDA matched savings plan, I was able to invest in my own home business. With the money from the IDA, I bought the materials like jars, labels, shea butter, and essential oils that I use to make the products that I currently sell. The business is starting to flourish, and I'm starting to save to buy a house for my family. The IDA program has been great for us, it really, really has. Thank you!"

-Ahsabi Burris, owner of Ibeji Natural Body Care (INFC), Alameda County
